MODE 7

     MODE 7 is a Philly-based jazz fusion group with the goal of pushing the boundaries of video game music within the jazz idiom. Founded by Tristin Koenig while pursuing his master’s degree in jazz performance at Temple University, MODE 7 was created initially as a vehicle to express a mutual interest in video game soundtracks–many of which never get a proper spotlight in the live music space. This 6-piece band is comprised of highly skilled and experienced musicians that play with various acts around the Philadelphia and New York City area that are deeply rooted in the jazz tradition. This allows these iconic songs that we all grew up with to be fused with the spontaneity and soulfulness of jazz improvisation delivering the listener a fresh and engaging sonic experience, without distracting from the intent and message of the original songs.
